What's a conversion worth?

Calculate how much your conversions are worth

When someone takes an action that leads to a purchase, that's worth something - but how much, exactly?

You only need to know three things to find out…

  1. What do you charge per purchase?

For example, if your ebook is $50, enter '50'. If your app is $40/mo, enter '40'.

  2. How many purchases over time?

If it's starting a subscription, enter your total expected sales. Otherwise, just enter 1!

  3. How many who take this action will wind up buying?

What percentage ultimately makes the purchase? If the action is the purchase, enter 100!

To estimate a subscription's total purchases, you will need to figure out the length of an average customer's lifetime.

First, you need to identify your current churn rate - the percentage of people who cancel their accounts per paying period.

For example, if you bill monthly and 5% of your customers drop off each month, then your churn rate is 5%, or .05.

If you stopped adding customers today and lost 5% of your remaining customers each month, you would last 20 months before they were all gone ( 1 / .05 ).

Therefore, you can expect an average new signup to stick around for N months, where N is 1 divided by your churn rate!
